Sacrifice, Courage & Love !!!
When Gandhi sacrificed all his wants for the sake of "Free India", does it mean that he sacrificed all his happiness? Troubles did come everyday, every moment. For which, we can say that the sacrifice was the only way out. There was a need for someone who could stand up bare and fearless to all the problems, face-to-face.
So as in Gandhi's case, he was a man who was really disturbed at the sight of his fellow countrymen suffering. Which kind of suffering? That is a completely different question altogether. Pain did remain common in all the sufferings. Anyway, Gandhi did stood up with great courge to fight. His courage fuelled by the love on his fellow countrymen? I don't think so. The disturbed mind of his at the sight of the pain the people were under, kept Gandhi going. The love always prevailed though and was responsible for the mileage of the whole movement.
So where does this leads us to? It clearly says that Gandhi, when he stood up all fearless sacrificing all his wants, it was not actually a sacrfice. He did what he loved to do. The word "sacrifice" might get a different meaning or a different perception of the same meaning in this context. Whatever it might be, one thing is for sure that he found happiness in his sacrifice.
When two of us friends were discussing the same story, one person that flashed across my mind was my grandmother. My ajji. A real life example of the subject in discussion above. If i have to scale the whole situation down from a country called "India" to a home within it in a place called "Basavanagudi" ; my "ajji" will easily replace "Gandhi". She would do far better than Gandhi as a replacement, as she was an amazing cook (BESAN LADU and AKKI ROTTI tops the list) and an amazing artist too (Fine arts).
The symbol of sacrifice, courage and love that she was, fought very hard till her last breath. For me, nothing else mattered that day. All i did was, pray god, to convert the slightest of chances for an improvement in her health. Everyone's life has to end someday. On 14th of February 2011, exactly an year back, it was my ajji's.
With great respect to one of the greatest and the most beautiful women in my life, i will pray to god that may her soul continue to rest in peace.
