The Plan did get executed - Kudremukha Trip - Part 01
It’s time again to look back; it’s time
again to cherish; it’s time again to introspect; well, it’s time for another
post. It had been quite long that we had met. With nearly two and a half years
of togetherness, it was time for an event that would seal and bind us together
forever. If not so, at least it was time to cherish the long relationship.
We met regularly for the last two years
with various ideas and challenges. We sat on a common platform irrespective of
our differences whatsoever. We did things that gave us a sense of satisfaction,
more than anything else we became good friends. We were able to recognize
ourselves as a part of one idea; Kaleido. That in itself was quite a big
achievement. After crossing this stage, it was very normal that we started
binding together as one force and wanted to do things that brought us even closer.
And thus, we decided to go around on an excursion.
It was probably luck I should say, that
Lakshmi invited us to her place, Kudremukha exactly at the time when we were
planning for an excursion. It did not take much time to acknowledge the
invitation. Within a day 10 of us were ready and one more got added hours
before we left Bangalore towards Kudremukha. The feeling was quite different.
Although the excitement of travelling got bigger and bigger, this was something
different. For the past two and a half years we only met at Belaku Shishu
Nivasa (An Orphanage) to spend time with the children. We never had a chance to
meet most of the people in the team outside this place and thus we never knew
each other personally very well. But now, we got a chance.
The unanimity in the decision of making
this trip possible was very profound in the group. Thus, we set-off, 11 of us,
on a 14 seater on our way towards Kudremukha in the Chikmaglur district.
Chikmaglur is the most beautiful district in the state of Karnataka. You can
plan your next ten vacations here and you would still want to come back. The
amazing serenity in offer, the chilly breeze that hits your face so very
gently, the tasty food, the down-to-earth hospitality of its people and much
more are its defining factors. If you are a kannadiga or by any chance living
in Karnataka coming from outside, and have visited this place, you know what
value visiting Chikmaglur adds to one’s life.
With this background, we set-off after a
busy Friday’s work. Some of them still studying, had the pleasure of having
more time to throw their stuffs in. Anyway trying to make most of the available
time I was able to get ready by around half past eight at night, when Akshay came
to my house, all geared up, as scheduled. With loads of excitement to look
forward to and with moments away from realizing our long awaited plan, we all
met at Belaku Shishu Nivasa, our starting point.
This was fun and
equally interesting. I am not sure how many in the team observedit. Same old
faces, meeting at the same old place, in the same old positions, but for a
completely different reason. I guess, we felt a bit indifferent here. The air
in the place carried the fragrance of just Kaleido and its plans. It was very
hard this time to help my brain understand the difference in fragrance. The
fragrance of excitement, nervousness and eagerness hit very hard although it
was difficult to contemplate it. With three girls and eight boys in the group,
the atmosphere was a bit concerning. With the recent Delhi gang-rape episode
fuelling such concerns; my parents especially were a bit apprehensive about
these numbers. It was; I should say a responsibility on us to ensure that at
the end of it all, only happiness would remain.
